hot spot: dream duo.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY JOHN ELLIS

Growing up, I was an only child for seven years, and I wanted desperately to not be. Sure, it would’ve been nice to have someone to bake mud pies with and someone with whom to make happy little memories on family vacations, but my real motive was slightly less virtuous: I wanted a bunk bed. There was nothing cooler to me in my single-digit years than the idea of getting to use a ladder to carry me to and from bed. And while I was soon gifted with a brother, he got a room of his very own, and I was crushed to spend the rest of my My Little Pony-watching youth on a twin-sized bed that was easily accessible from the ground. If I found myself forced into cohabitation now, though, a bunk bed would be the furthest thing from my mind, in part because I’ve developed a bit of a fear of heights, but also because this space exists: Designed by Elizabeth Dinkel, this handsome guest room is California bungalow with a soothing touch of Moroccan, and the perfect remedy for hosting two weary travelers in a pinch.

Beautiful space! The white beds and blue walls really allow the goldish green to pop! http://goldenwhitedecor.blogspot.com/

What a delicious inviting space to sink into. Great reminder that guest rooms need as much attention as the rest of the rooms. Funny how quickly we get over the bunk bed crush! Jennifer Duchene
