editor's obsession: silestone vase.
March 05, 2012
I can’t resist a good vase. Turn to virtually any surface in my home, and the evidence of my guilty decorating pleasure is irrefutable. Though the vases I have are made of the usual suspects—stainless steel, ceramics, glass—I always knew that there had to be a way to make the common accessory anything but ordinary. That’s why when I heard about the conceptual vases born of a collaboration between Cosentino and Swedish design house Form Us With Love, I just had to share my excitement. Unveiled at the Swedish Museum of Architecture during Stockholm Design Week, the watertight containers are fashioned using ringed slabs from Cosentino’s Silestone line of natural quartz surfaces. The organic material once saved for conventional applications like countertops and wall cladding gets a fresh perspective in its new incarnation as it lovingly forms a vessel to hold one of Mother Nature’s most beautiful creations: the flower.
