Sometimes the best spaces are the simplest ones, and we can’t think of a better example of that in motion than the handsome rotunda in this Chicago home by Jessica Lagrange. Instead of packing the room with a host of impressive but ultimately nonutilitarian accents, Lagrange opted for two standout pieces—a chandelier and a table that she designed herself—and allowed the subtle mural by Los Angeles artist Scott Waterman to do the rest. The effect is one that is both traditional and ethereal and has us wishing that all faux finishing could be so flawless and unassuming.

If you could have a scene of anything on your walls, what would it be? Would you go the soft, abstract route or do you have a favored landscape you’d like to see depicted?

To whom it may concern at luxe-daily, Thank you so much for the nice mention! The mural is in fact an abstracted view of the melting ice on Lake Michigan which can be seen from this penthouse apartment. FYI the story behind this project is on my blog Corbu's Cave. http://corbuscave.blogspot.com/2010/12/walking-on-thin-ice.html
