Last week’s foray into blue was, of course, anything but; the calming hue is way more cheerful than the music movement that shares its name would imply. But they got it right when it comes to red: red hot, red blooded, seeing red. The fiery, dramatic shade lives up to its reputation, inciting passion and demanding attention whenever it’s integrated into interior spaces. But is it possible to pull off a room that goes all out in crimson without going too over-the-top? We didn’t think so, until we saw this charming home office by David Dalton, fully decked out in bright draperies from S. Harris and cherry upholstery from Edelman Leather. It hits all the right notes, though Dalton admits it wasn’t the simplest task: “Using one shade is not always the easiest thing to accomplish since there are so many different ways in which the color has to match!”
